Canadian Red Cross

The mission of the Canadian Red Cross is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.
They have a vast network, but their approach is simple.  All Red Cross programs and activities are guided by the Fundamental Principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.  These principles allow them to provide help immediately to whoever needs it, wherever they are, whatever their race, political beliefs, religion, social status, or culture.
The Canadian Red Cross helps the community by offering services in the following areas, some of these are (but not limited to); disaster management, international operations, migrant and refugee services, restoring family links, appeals, first aid and CPR, swimming and water safety, violence prevention, red cross and youth/homecare, and finally health equipment and loan programs.
One of the major services that is provided through the Red Cross is that it provides housing for people 65 years and over who are frail and/or at risk and require personal support services and homemaking.  They also provide an emergency response unit for 24 hour monitoring.  Donations and volunteer opportunities are most welcome!
