Heart and Stroke Foundation

The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leading in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada is a federation of 10 provincial Foundations, led and supported by a force of more than 130,000 volunteers.
 
The Foundation aims to build healthier hearts and minds across Ontario by bringing life-saving knowledge to the communities we serve - through the local area offices and the healthcare providers they support with education and resources.
 
The Community Mission Specialists, who work with local networks and professionals, are also trained to provide learning opportunities and current information relevant to heart and stroke health in your neighbourhood.
 
They have the passion and courage to explore, through scientific excellence and innovation, ways to protect the health of all Canadians – old and young – in communities across Ontario.
 
Some of the information offered by the Heart and Stroke Foundation to promote healthy living includes, warning signs of heart disease, treatment of heart disease. Living with heart disease, emergency CPR/care, heart conditions, warning signs of stroke, treatment methods involved with stroke, healthy eating, recipes, physical activities, family health, healthy weight and nutrition facts from healthcare professionals.
